JJ's story

Team Leader

Home > Our People > JJ's story

I knew about Look Ahead before I joined and had heard good things about the working environment. I joined the organisation because I wanted to develop my skills and work for a well-reputed organisation.

I am a Team Leader at Islington Crisis House and there is never a quiet moment! There is always something to do. It is my responsibility to promote good practice within my team and to help foster their creativity and commitment so that we can all deliver a quality service for our customers.

‘If my work can make a difference so can yours.’

One of the best things about my job is the people I work with. We spend so much time together that it’s important to have a good team around you. Look Ahead has a strong culture of supporting each other and working together to improve our services.  At times this work can be difficult if you have a customer who is struggling, so it is great to know my colleagues are there if I need them.

Early this year, I was excited to win the ‘Excellence’ award in our Quarterly Staff Awards. It meant a lot to me to be recognised for my work. I hope that this recognition can also serve as inspiration to others – if my work can make a difference so can yours.

I have always loved the social care sector where you can make a massive difference to someone’s life. I have already completed a MSC in Health and Social Care management and policy, and I want to continue to build my professional skills. I hope to gain more management experience so that I can continue to advance within the organisation.  I enjoy being challenged so I hope I can continue to grow at Look Ahead and have opportunities to take on more responsibility.
